There is a kind of flame in Crete
– let us call it a soul.”

Villa Ninemia

We invite you to make yourself at home at Villa Ninemia – a contemporary luxury property that offers an amazing view of the Cretan mountains and the Libyan Sea. Listen to nothing but the sound of nature and the quiet splashing of the pool.

Once you set foot on the grounds of the villa, you will feel how the architecture breathes in the surrounding landscape. The aim of the design was to pay respect to the people and the place. Click below the picture (+) to learn more about the layout and the philosophy behind the architecture.

If you want to share in the particular experience of open spaces and calm relaxation at Villa Ninemia, click the button below. Your Cretan adventure starts here.

  • Villa Ninemia was designed with respect to the morphology of the area, which is quite hilly. Its beautiful location on a slope opens up an amphitheater-like view of the sea in the distance.

The contemporary architecture follows clean lines and provides large spaces, both inside and outside the villa, allowing the adjacent natural environment to breath and celebrate the prevailing serene atmosphere of the site.

The villa was built on a large plot of more than 6.250 square meters just outside of the village and only one kilometer away from the beach of Agia Galini and the village centre, where guests can discover the picturesque harbor, traditional restaurants and local shops.

Villa Ninemia offers 150 square meters of interior space with three large en suite bedrooms oriented in a way as to provide beautiful views of the sea. The cozy shared living area invites guest to relax in the lounge or to make use of the open kitchen, with a large kitchen island and a dining area.

The bedrooms are separated from the shared quarters by way of a corridor, which ensures privacy.

As guests will likely spend most of their time outside, Villa Ninemia provides the most beautiful and spacious terrace and a sunken pool lounge, large parts of which are covered to provide shading. Whether you’d like to read a book, relax on a luxurious sunbed, or have a family dinner at the large wooden outside dining table, you will always enjoy unobstructed sea views.

    • Smoking is not allowed inside the villa.

    • Pets are not allowed.

    • Parties are prohibited.

    • Due to the danger of forest fires, please do not light any open fires or conduct any other activities that may cause fires.

Meet the Owners

We are Lies and Patrick, and we built Villa Ninemia to share our love for Crete with our guests. Years ago we felt the warmth of that flame, the soul of Crete, that the island’s famous son Nikos Kazantzakis described in his book “Report to Greco”. Agia Galini and the South of Crete condense the joy of Greek living in a way that captured our imagination, the result of which is Villa Ninemia. Click below the photo (+) to learn more about us, and how we try to make our house your house for the duration of your stay.

  • Thank you for visiting our website and for your interest in a relaxing vacation at Villa Ninemia.

Back in 2005, we were looking for just such a serene get-away when we picked Agia Galini as the destination for our very first vacation as a newly formed family. You can imagine how important this holiday was for us as a couple – spending quality time and experiencing our new life together.

Agia Galini was love at first sight. Arriving here felt like coming home. We enjoyed the breathtaking views, where mountains and sea are smoothly blending together, where the turquoise Libyan Sea is so clear that you can watch the fish swimming around your feet. We indulged in the Mediterranean cuisine with sharing plates of fresh fish, sun-ripened tomatoes, fresh oven baked bread dipped in delicious olive oil.

But then, there are of course other places around the world that offer stunning landscapes and amazing food. What you don’t find elsewhere is the overwhelming feeling of being welcome. The hospitality in South Crete is so genuine that it immediately touches your heart and soul.

The Greek word “Phyloxenia”, the love of the foreign, means that you come as a stranger, but you walk away as a friend. The warm and true welcome you will be greeted with in Agia Galini is not a marketing trap, but a pure and genuine way of life – the Greek way of living.

It is exactly that feeling that makes Agia Galini as a destination, and Villa Ninemia in particular, so unique. It represents how we live our life and the values we honor. We believe in the beauty of generosity, especially in today’s tumultuous world. For us, sharing is caring.

We love to welcome family and friends, preparing meals and drinks for them, and showing them how much we care. By staying at Villa Ninemia, we hope that you will enjoy the same good fortune that it brought to us. Agia Galini was the start of creating solid foundations for our family. Today, almost 20 years later, we still celebrate our love as a happy family, especially since we had two kids together, Anna and Milo, who enjoy Agia Galini just as much.

Now we invite you to let yourself be embraced by Greek hospitality and to feel the warm welcome: Living Greek.

“The light of Greece opened my eyes, penetrated my pores, extended to my whole being. I went back to the world having found the true center and the true meaning of cosmic rotation.”
